About the Rickroll Safety & Awareness Institute

The Rickroll Safety & Awareness Institute (RSI) is a very serious-sounding, completely unofficial project dedicated to studying and documenting the world’s least harmful internet prank.

Our mission

At RSI, our mission is simple: help people understand what just happened to them when they clicked a suspicious link and found themselves staring at an ’80s music video instead of whatever they were expecting.

We believe that education, awareness, and a healthy sense of humor are the best tools for navigating the modern internet.

What we actually do

  • Provide over-the-top explanations of Rickrolling for the recently pranked.
  • Offer “Preparedness Training” that is about 60% joke, 40% useful advice.
  • Host a cathartic Incident Reporting Center for your most humiliating moments.
  • Celebrate the enduring, ridiculous power of harmless online pranks.

What we don’t do

  • We do not provide legal, psychological, or IT security advice.
  • We do not investigate your coworkers, friends, or siblings.
  • We are not affiliated with Rick Astley or any official entity.
  • We do not track individual visitors beyond basic analytics used to run the site.

Who is behind RSI?

RSI is maintained by a small group of internet enthusiasts who have:

  • Been Rickrolled more times than they care to admit.
  • A questionable sense of humor and access to a text editor.
  • A deep appreciation for the fact that this joke is still somehow alive.

Support the project

If you’d like to help keep this wonderfully unnecessary corner of the internet online, you can support the project via a small contribution.

*“Since 1987” refers to the release year of the song that made all of this possible, not the founding date of this website. We were probably doing homework or playing outside back then.
